Demonstrating your talent
Enlighten Records is on the search for inspiring, positive and gifted individuals who have a passion for music, faith and catalysing positive social change.
Showing us what you have to offer is simple. Create something A Cappella and musical about any topic but touching on the themes of spirituality, faith and positivity. This might be, for example, in the form of an original song/nasheed you have written, singing a cover of a song, or sending us something you have produced/coordinated.

Provide a brief background on yourself, include country of residence, genre/s of music you think you fit into and/or are influenced by, musical experience (if you have any) and hobbies.

Judges’ 5 TOP TIPS
1. Be different.
2. Be authentic, be you! Stay true to who you are and what matters to you.
3. Be creative.
4. Take a good look at our mission and values, and let it inspire your which song you choose to cover, or if you are sending us an original song, then your song’s message.
5. Try to use good sound recording equipment so we can clearly hear your great vocals! You can record yourself on your smart phone/smart device too.
Safiyyah Hafiji, Founder and Company Director of Enlighten Records, is a young entrepreneur striving to make changes in the Islamic Music industry.
As the first female leader in the industry, she endeavours to inspire more Muslim female women to become involved in enterprise. One of her favoured role models is Khadija, the wife of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who was an incredibly successful businesswoman and a lady of great strength and compassion.
Safiyyah is a student of business, and has an avid interest in spiritually enriching A Cappella music, inspired by faith and Islam. With a fresh and positive vision, she strives to explore new creative potential and ideas.
With Enlighten Records, she builds a very unique and innovative platform on which both Muslim female artists as well as male Muslim artists can share their love for their faith and good music, in collaboration with talented individuals outside the Islamic music industry. At Enlighten Records, there is room for everyone.
Lee Bloomfield has been a music engineer and educator since 2005. He is a lecturer at Leeds College of Music with a teaching portfolio that includes elements of studio production, acoustics, and composition for moving image.
Lee also has a portfolio of responsibilities with education company Pearson nationally as a senior team leader of standards verifiers, examiner, and qualification development writer for music and music technology.
Lee also has an interest in noise induced hearing loss, and the effect this has on musicians. He has trained as a lay-counsellor with the British Tinnitus Association,
and has provided information workshops for Leeds College of Music students on the annual Tinnitus Awareness Day.
As a musician, Lee is a bass player and vocalist.
Damian McDonald, a.k.a. Dr. Damo, is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Yorkshire in the United Kingdom.
He has worked in and around the music and entertainment business all his life, recording, producing and performing as a drummer and vocalist,
Signed to Sentric Music Publishing over a decade ago, his compositions have received local, national and international radio airplay, and some of his tracks have been distributed worldwide on various compilation albums.
Damian’s songs have also been featured on the soundtracks of TV shows such as MTV’s Real World and Hollyoaks, and he has also scored over a dozen short films.
A firm believer in the philosophy that everyone deserves a chance to shine, Damian is honoured to have been asked to be a judge in this competition, and excited at the prospect of helping to discover and promote new musical talent.
